SCHOOL OF COMPUTER ENGINEERING
The Computer Engineering Technology department is an academic department in the School of Engineering Technology. The pioneer Ag. Head of the department is Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) T.M. Adepoju. As at now, the department has Four (4) full time Academic staff and two (2) Non-Academic staff.
The ethics of department is firm discipline and integrity based on professional conduct. In line with this, students of the department are expected to dress corporate in and outside the classroom. They are to comport themselves professionally, keep the rules and regulations of the polytechnic.
Program
The certificate to be awarded and the program title shall read: “NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY”
Objectives
The National Diploma Program in Computer Engineering Technology is designed to produce computer technicians to install, maintain and repair computer system software, hardware and its peripherals. More specifically, diplomates of the program should be able to:
  • Map out the layout for computers installation and networking;
  • Set up the installation, configuration and the operation of a computer system(s);
  • Set up the installation, configuration and the operation of computer networks;
  • Use appropriate instruments and software to carry out simple tests and measurements on all subsystems in a computer and its peripherals;
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repair of:
    • Computer Hardware;
    • Computer Software; and
    • Computer Peripherals.
  • Construct simple computer circuit;
  • Develop simple programming codes;
  • Present technical reports; and
  • Manage a small enterprise.

Entry Requirements for National Diploma (ND) in Computer Engineering Technology
Entry requirements for the National Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology program include at least a minimum score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), five credit passes at not more than two sittings in West African Senior School Certificate of Education (WASSCE), Senior School Certificate of Education (SSCE), National Technical Certificate (NTC), General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary level, West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO) in relevant subjects. The relevant subjects are: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and one other subject from: Metal Work, Wood Work, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics, Basic Electricity, Economics, Commerce, Statistics, Further Mathematics, Computer Studies, Geography and Biology or Agricultural Science. The period of program: The duration for ND in Computer Engineering Technology full time shall be for a period of four (4) semesters.
