The Federal Polytechnic Ayede Ogbomoso has continued to showcase its developmental strides, which are being admired by many.
Recently, the new Governing Council chairman of the institution Hon Yakubu Dati was around for a familiarization visit during which an on-the-spot assessment of the permanent site at Ayede in Ogo-Oluwa local government area was undertaken. The Polytechnic took off at a temporary site – Iresapa – in 2021, in Surulere local government.
The permanent site is now dotted with structures including the ICT Centre, Main Administrative Building, Administrative Building II, Urban and Regional Planning Building, Twin Departmental Building, Polytechnic Library, Collapsible Lecture Halls, Mechanical Workshop, Polytechnic Medical Centre, Mini Administrative Building, FRIN Building, Gate House and Power Station.
Hon Dati a four – time commissioner in Plateau state, impressed by the developmental projects and other record – breaking achievements commended the Rector Dr Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, and his team for the success stories. Dati also lauded the management team for its increasing number of students which he noted is unsurpassed (among its peers) in four years while calling on the federal government, Oyo state government and the people of Ogbomoso to show more commitment through provision of more infrastructures especially access roads.
He also encouraged the people of Ogbomoso and Oyo state in general to avail themselves of the opportunities provided by the institution such as enrolling their children.
“We are happy that the school authority under the leadership of Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed has been able to move the enrolment of students from zero to over one thousand in the shortest period of time.
“I want the Ayede and Ogbomoso communities, Oyo State and beyond to take advantage of siting institution at their doorstep by enrolling their children and wards in the polytechnic.
“I’m imploring Ogbomoso sons and daughters to come to the aid of the imstitution in the area of road construction, hostel accommodation and other social amenities. By doing so, they are writing their names in the sand of gold,” Dati stated.
“My vision for the school is to see it producing graduates who are employers of labour, graduates that will provide solutions to myriad of problems confronting the nation,” he said.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa; Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Professor Idris Bugaje; Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund ( TETFund), Arc. Sonny Echono, among others, for their numerous supports for the institution.
He further called on the government of Oyo state under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde to come to the aid of the new institution in terms of road networks, security and other interventions.
