Profile in Brief
Dr. Abdul-Hameed is the Pioneer Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Oyo
State, Nigeria. He obtained his B.Eng. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the
University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, in 1991; M. Sc. in Industrial &
Production Engineering from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, in 1999;
and M.Sc. in Technology Management from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife,
Nigeria, in 2008. He also obtained a M. Eng. in Electrical Engineering from the
University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, in 2011 and later got his Ph.D. in
Technology Management from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, in
2014.
As a seasoned engineer, Dr. Abdul-Hameed is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute
of Productivity and Quality Management (FCPQM), a Fellow of the Institute of
Management Consultants (FIMC), a Fellow of the Institute of Policy Management
Development (FIPMD), a Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), and a
Registered Professional Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of
Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). In addition, he is a member of several
professional bodies including:
- Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (MIEEE)
- Nigerian Institution of Engineering Management (MNIEM)
- Nigerian Institute of Industrial Engineers (MNIIE)
- Internet Society (Nigerian Chapter)
- Associate Member of Nigerian Institute of Management (AMNIM)
As a seasoned scholar, Dr. Abdul-Hameed received the overall Best Master’s Thesis
award at the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, in the year 2010. He is also
a 2010 Osun State Award Winner.
Career Progression
Dr. Abdul-Hameed joined the services of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State,
Nigeria, on the 16th day of May, 1994, as an Assistant Lecturer in the
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology and rose to
become Chief Lecturer on the 1st day of January, 2012. He held various
leadership positions within the institution including Acting Head of Department,
Acting Dean, and Dean of the School of Engineering Technology.
He served on numerous committees within and outside of the Federal Polytechnic,
Ede, attended several local and international workshops and conferences, and
published several journal articles in both local and international journals. Dr.
Abdul-Hameed also served as Chairman and Member for many accreditation exercises
conducted by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for
Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology and Computer Engineering programs
across Nigeria.
Furthermore, he served as an external examiner for Electrical/Electronic programs
and staff assessor in various polytechnics and colleges of technology across
Nigeria. He was also once the Project Manager for Science and Technology
Education Post Basic (STEP-B) and Director of Quality Assurance at The Federal
Polytechnic, Ede, Nigeria.
A family man, Dr. Abdul-Hameed is happily married and blessed with four wonderful
children.
